Why Argan Oil?

As every woman (and some wise men) seek to find the perfect regimen to rejuvenate the skin and reverse signs of aging, they have begun looking for organic skincare solutions that are easy to complete on the day to day basis. Now trending amongst top skincare professionals, makeup artists, and celebrities is Moroccan Argan Oil.

Moroccan Argan Oil helps replenish those problem areas, as well as resolve common skincare problems like dry skin and acne.

Using Moroccan Argan Oil As a Daily Natural Skincare Regimen

You can apply Argan Oil everyday just as you would any other type of skincare product. Here are some tips for enhancing its fortifying features:

  • Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and then pat it until it’s damp.
  • Use a few drops of the oil and apply it to the face in a circular motion applying moderate pressure.
  • Areas where there are concerns of wrinkles and fine lines should be massaged gently.
  • Allow the oil to sit on the face for a few minutes and then follow up with sunscreen, and believe me, after few weeks you will dump your foundation!

Why Argan Oil is Simply the Best to Add to Your Natural Skincare Regimen

All products promise results, but not without a few setbacks. Most of the products available on the market are too harsh on the skin, or do not effectively deliver what they promise! Argan oil is 100% natural, non toxic, and provides an array of benefits including these listed below:

  • Moisturizes the Skin – Argan oil contains sterolins which help in promoting healthier skin cell metabolism allowing the face to retain more moisture.
  • Reduces Acne and Blemishes – Argan oil regulates the production of sebum which can greatly reduce the chances of future breakouts. It also contains vitamin E and anti-oxidants which are great for helping remove dead cells and promote growth of new ones.
  • Anti-Aging – Last but certainly not least, the antioxidants often found in Argan oil help to prevent oxidative damage that comes from the environment. This improves elasticity and cell strength.

Many women have already seen the benefits of adding Moroccan Argan Oil products to their skincare regimen. Even actress Erin Sanders can’t get enough of Argan Oil!

It is essential however, when buying Argan Oil to make sure it’s 100% pure oil, instead of paying less for something that could be found in your kitchen cupboard. On the wave of Argan Oil popularity, there are many products popping up claiming to be “Pure Argan Oil”. Unfortunately, most of them are NOT! And It does break my moroccan heart.

Coffee, Sugar & Argan Oil Scrub

I love body scrubs, and always make my own, and this one is definitely my favorite! Very basic, stripped down recipe that will leave you feeling so fresh and clean, and your skin so soft!

Natural scrubs are Wonderful for exfoliation and can be made with ingredients you already have on hand! It is so easy and very inexpensive. Exfoliation of the skin removes residual dirt and dead skin to give you younger looking, fresh skin, able to absorb moisture more effectively

ArgaWise Scrub

All you need is Coffee grinds, raw sugar and 100% pure argan oil. Combine ingredients in a bowl, mix well, et voila! Apply to wet skin in the shower with a circular motion then rinse. And Remember, Scrubs shouldn’t hurt!

This scrub will not only exfoliate, but some experts also say, the caffeine in the coffee increases blood-flow and circulation to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Plus the scent of coffee works as an anti-depressant and can combat feelings of nausea. What’s not to like about that?!

Try it and enjoy!

The OM symbol in Argawise: Being in the Moment

Argawise does not only feature a great product but it has chosen to be represented by symbols that are laden with profound meaning.  Take a close look at the khamsa that makes up the company logo, unbeknownst to many, perfectly tucked into the palm of the hand is the OM symbol.

“The OM always reminds me of breathing, and being in the moment,” Hoda Ait Rahou, the Founder of Argawise, delicately and proudly explained. As a devotee to meditation and yoga,  it seemed only natural that she would pick a symbol for her brand that resonated with her values and way of life.

An immediate reaction to the sound “OM” is relating it to the chant in a yoga class. Admittedly, we chant it and associate it with yoga without properly understanding its significance or meaning

There are fluid descriptions of what the OM sign means and signifies, such as: “It’s the sound of the universe” or “It represents the past, present and future.” In truth though, there is a richness and depth to the two letter syllable that dates back to 800-500 BC texts which explain both the concepts behind the sound, and the symbol.

OM, usually pronounced seamlessly so it rhymes with “home,” it is in fact made up of three syllables: A, U, and M, or, phonetically, “aaah,” “oooh,” and “mmm.” Experts say these syllables can represent a slew of trios, including: the heavens, earth, and the underworld; the Hindu gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva (aka creator god, sustainer god, and destroyer god); and the waking, dreaming, and dreamless states of consciousness.

Essentially, Om is the sound that represents a higher power and its connection to each of us. In the first paragraph of the historic Mandukya text, it states, “The syllable OM, which is the imperishable Brahman, is the universe.  Brahman is best described as divinity or what one considers divine – it can be God, Jesus, Buddha, Mother Nature etc.

It doesn’t stop there. Interestingly, Om also represents four different states of human consciousness. Each of these states have a symbol that comprises the OM symbol we know today.

The first state of consciousness is a waking state which is focused outward to material objects.  The waking state is represented in the symbol by the lower curve (the bottom of the “3”).  The second state of consciousness is dreaming sleep or the mental nature which is focused inward to only the thoughts in the mind, represented by the curl coming out of the center of the “3.”  The third state of consciousness is a dreamless sleep or deep meditation where subtle thoughts in the mind vanish.  The dreamless state is represented by the top curve (the upper part of the “3”).

The Fourth state of consciousness is the hardest to describe – in fact, the text calls it “indescribable.”  It is the state where awareness of the world is gone. It is ineffable peace and supreme good.  It is represented in the symbol much as it is described in the text.  It is separate from, and different than, the other three states – visually represented by the crescent and dot in the upper right.

These four states of consciousness are part of the makeup of human nature.  They exist in all of us at all times. This mantra and mystical Sanskrit sound is of Hindu origin and is sacred in HinduismBuddhism, Sanatana Dharma and Jainism. It is considered the mother of all the chants since it starts and ends all mantras.

Today, outside of sweaty yoga classes, the OM symbol can be traced in a lot of Hindu art all over Nepal and India, and it is a common sign for Hindu philosophy and theology.

For Hoda, the OM sign is an incredible reminder of the connection between the mind, body, and the deepest spaces of self-awareness and intention.

Hoda explained why she included the OM symbol in her branding: “I wanted it to be a reminder, of how small we are, and how small our problems are, and to remember to recognize our experiences as a reflection of how the whole universe moves, the setting sun, the rising moon, the beating of our hearts.” She continued to say, “I want ArgaWise lovers to remember OM every time they use the oils.”

The “OM” sound is calming to the nervous system and it is proven to relax the mind and shift it to a more contemplative mode.  If you have ever engaged in a group “OM”-ing experience, perhaps you can understand the sense of unity you felt with people around you in the room?  Everyone engaged in the chant align their body/mind/spirit with the universe because it’s the sound of the universe and they felt that they were referencing something real.

In the end, Argawise stands behind a real product that is natural and can be used for most personal care needs. The OM symbol embodies more of what Hoda is trying to relay:  a healthy and relaxed natural state of being.

ArgaWise Intention Candle

The world needs mindfulness, and in this fast-paced, stressed world, with an ever shrinking attention-span, we’ve lost the ability to reflect and be aware of our emotions, and much of the time we are operating on automatic pilot.

True joy, peace and contentment come from being alive and present in the moment. It is all we have and it is all there really is. Being aware of our emotions is a skill we need to reacquire! Meditation is an amazing practice that makes us step out of our minds and into our bodies and the present moment.

Having experienced the benefits of meditation myself in the past, I have decided to reconnect by embarking on a 3 week journey entailing a daily 10 minutes meditation. The real key is practice! I’ll be reporting my progress here over the next 3 weeks, so check back soon or subscribe.

To help me with my 3-week journey, I made the first ArgaWise intention candle this morning. To help with my intention to focus on what’s important, and lose sight of what’s not.

What do u think?
